DWC Holiday Reminders
Reminder that due to the High School Meet tonight in Manchester and the upcoming holiday break there will be no DWC 3rd-6th Grade Practice tonight, Thursday, Dec. 21st. Next 3rd-6th Grade DWC Practice will be Tuesday, Jan. 2nd at 6 PM. Also if you ordered a singlet and would like to get that before Jan. please contact Coach Freidhof to arrange a pick up or delivery. Reminder NO 3rd-6th Grade DWC Practice Tonight, Thursday, Dec. 7th
Reminder that there will be NO 3rd-6th Grade Decorah Wrestling Club practice tonight, Thursday, Dec. 7th due to the home High School Wrestling Dual with Crestwood. We would love to have everyone come to the gym and cheer us on in what is going to be a very exciting NEIC high school dual! We are also attaching tournament forms for New Hampton (Sat.) and South Winn (Sun.) youth tournaments if anyone is itching to go to a youth tournament. Have a great day!

As Parent/Legal Guardian of ______________________________________, I/We agree that participation in the Decorah Wrestling Club program is at our own risk and I/We will not in any way hold liable the Decorah Wrestling Club, their Officers, Program Directors, Coaches, Sponsors, Referees, or the Decorah School District for any injuries and/or loss of property suffered directly or indirectly in training for, traveling to or from, and participating in the Decorah Wrestling Club program.

During the wrestling season, photos of wrestlers may be taken during practices, tournaments, and other club events. We attempt to place as many of these photos as possible on the Decorah Wrestling Club website/Facebook page as well as submitting photos to the local newspapers and/or club publications. We would appreciate every parent authorizing us to use photos of their children on our website, local papers, and publications ~ this is what builds interest with the wrestlers, their classmates and our community to participate in our club. Thank you!

Weather related announcements will be on KDEC and KVIK as well as on our social media. Please tune in if weather is bad. There is no secure area for coats, bags, etc. Do not let your child bring valuable clothing, watches, or jewelry. Wrestling shoes and special gear are not required. Each wrestler must wear a pair of clean, dry, soft-soled shoes into the wrestling room. Parents are encouraged to attend practice and help instruct but we request younger children not be brought into the wrestling room because it is distracting and potentially dangerous. DISCIPLINE IS OUR #1 RULE!!! Please be advised anyone unwilling to follow DWC rules will be asked to sit out. There will be no refunds.

2017-2018 Decorah Wrestling Club Information
Below is some important information for parents, please be sure to read in its entirety as there is A LOT of information.
DWC will have two practice age groups, K-2nd and 3rd-6th. All practices will be held in the high school wrestling room this year.
K-2nd will practice on Mondays from 6-7 PM starting Nov. 13th.
3rd-6th will practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7:15 PM starting Nov. 14th.
Registration for club membership is $50 and includes 10+ practice sessions, club t-shirt, and paid entry fee to the Decorah Viking Athletic Booster Club Youth Tournament on Sunday, Feb. 11th, 2018.
HOW TO REGISTER:
Registration will be held ONLINE ONLY - please click on this link to register.
DWC Online Registration Form
There is also a wavier form that the parent/guardian MUST SIGN and turn in the first night your child practices. This wavier can be found on our website. Payment for first session is due the first night of practice, as well.
Coach Freidhof will collect wavier and payments starting 15 minutes before practice is scheduled to begin on Monday or Tuesday outside the wrestling room.
SOCIAL MEDIA
We strongly suggest following our wrestling blog (www.decorahwrestlingclub.blogspot.com). This will be our primary means of communicating to parents. Below the calendar (left column) is a “follow by email” option – simply type in your email address to receive posts via email (note this is a delayed email – in some cases you will not receive until the next day) Practice changes/cancellations will be posted on blog as well as announced on the local radio stations. We encourage you to “like” our facebook page (Decorah Vikings Wrestling), Twitter account (@DecorahWrestle) and our Instagram account (decorahvikingwrestling) to receive updates about Decorah Wrestling!

There is 3rd-6th Grade Practice Tonight, Thursday, Jan. 19th!
Coach Larson has agreed to run 3rd-6th grade practice tonight while Coach Freidhof is with the varsity so there will be 3rd-6th grade practice from 6-7:15 PM tonight, Thursday, Jan. 19th!
The weather looks good for next week so we will be back on normal practice schedule!!!

Attention DWC Parents!!!
We are going to have
Decorah Wrestling Club Recognition Night
on Thursday night, Jan. 12th
after the 2nd Rd Dual between Charles City and Crestwood.
DWC Wrestlers will get in free by wearing their t-shirts
(parents still need to pay if they are going to go into the gym and stay and watch the meet).
DWC Wrestlers need to be in the wrestling room at 7:30 PM and we will line them up by grade. They will be introduced and will wrestle one live match with a partner prior to the final dual of the night between Decorah and Crestwood.

Important Info for All Age Groups - Update of Practice Schedule for Jan.
Quick Update
Due to the High School team using the wrestling room for warm-up tonight for their home meet against Waukon we will NOT have 3rd-6th Grade Practice tonight (Thursday, Jan. 5th) - sorry for the late notice - Tuesday’s weather got us off track. To catch the 3rd-6th graders up with practices we will have Monday practices the next two weeks for 3rd-6th grades (See schedule below). We also hope to have a DWC night next Thursday, Jan. 12th at our double dual with Charles City and Crestwood. More Info. on that next week at practice. Also the Crestwood Youth Tournament is this weekend on Sunday - we have attached a form if you are interested in going.
If you would like to pick up your DWC shirt you can do that tonight at the high school meet if you find Coach Freidhof before the varsity dual starts.
